FALLS CHURCH, Va., Jan. 9 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Law Enforcement Alliance of America Executive Director and Retired Police Officer, James Fotis, commended the Ohio Legislature and Governor’s Office for producing an agreement to pass Ohio’s Right-To-Carry law.

This remarkable agreement caps nearly ten years of LEAA’s grassroots advocacy in support of Right-To-Carry in Ohio.

Fotis remarked, “Finally, after almost ten years of tireless efforts by LEAA members and Ohioans concerned about public safety, Ohio joins the overwhelming majority of 36 states that provide law abiding citizens the Right-To-Carry a concealed handgun for self-defense.”

LEAA’s efforts in support of Right-To-Carry have included bringing local and national law enforcement experts, including Ohio law enforcement officers, as well as Ohio crime victims, to testify in favor of the measure before the Ohio legislature. In the Buckeye state, LEAA has been the leading, most vocal police based group to support Right-To-Carry.

In addition to testimony and lobbying elected officials, LEAA has been involved in many, many media interviews, providing an array of spokespeople to comment on this issue and has led a decade long public education campaign on the safety and efficacy of Right-To-Carry. LEAA also has participated in grassroots efforts helping to demonstrate that law enforcement officers have nothing to fear from allowing law-abiding Ohioans to protect themselves with a concealed firearm.

Fotis continued, “This is a victory for the thousands of dedicated activists in Ohio and all the different groups who pulled together and worked tirelessly for over a decade to pass this law -- LEAA is proud of it’s Members and Supporters in Ohio and their success in making this a reality.”

LEAA has worked tirelessly to explain and publicize law enforcement’s support for Right-To-Carry laws in states across the nation over the past decade. LEAA’s public education activities, media outreach and political action have given a voice to law enforcement professionals speaking out in favor of this proven, safe and common sense self-defense legislation. Supporting common sense criminal justice issues is what LEAA is all about.

With over 75,000 Members and Supporters nationwide, the Law Enforcement Alliance of America is the nation’s largest coalition of law enforcement professionals, crime victims, and concerned citizens dedicated to making America safer.
