RIVERSIDE - A police officer was apparently hit and dragged by a pickup she was approaching in a traffic stop about 9 p.m. near the intersection of Arlington and Rutland avenues.
The female officer was making a traffic stop on the white Ford Ranger pickup when she was injured, Riverside police Sgt. Michele Jackson said.
A man was taken into custody a few minutes later on Corwin Lane near Wells Avenue.
As the suspect was being taken into custody, he asked officers about the health of the female officer.
The officer was taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, the Riverside Police Department said. The name and condition of the officer were not released.
It wasn’t known if the injured officer or any other police personnel fired their guns at the suspect, Jackson said.
