In January of 2007, through the diligent work of Deputy Director Fred Alley and Inspector Mark Sinquefeld, the Norfolk Southern Railway Police Department’s SORT (Special Operations Response Team) was able to attend a week long tactical training session at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco , GA. NSPD was the first railway police department to ever attend this type of training at FLETC. FLETC Instructors provided the team with training in tactical drills, night operations, tactical transitions, vehicle take downs, team drills in firearms (rifle and pistol), non-lethal training exercises, and practical exercise scenarios. Overall the training was a resounding success and was an incredible opportunity the team members won’t soon forget. Here the team is pictured at the International Site, a mock port of entry, which was used extensively throughout the training.
