Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor

Recently, the Department of Justice announced that it is now accepting nominations for the Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor, the highest national award that can be bestowed on civilian public safety officers.

The medal will be awarded by the President of the United States to public safety officers who have exhibited extraordinary valor above and beyond the call of duty.

To be considered for the Medal of Valor, public safety officers must be nominated by the chiefs or directors of their agencies.

Nominations must be submitted by August 15, 2003 to the U.S. Department of Justice.
