Publisher’s Note: Police Marksman Becomes Street Survival Magazine

For the past 30 years, The Police Marksman has been a recognized leader in advancing the cause of officer safety and training. With that legacy firmly in mind, I’d like to share with you some exciting changes that are taking place at the publication.

As many of you know, Police1 acquired The Police Marksman last year and has focused on modernizing its design, as well as refining its editorial direction. Now, as part of the continuing process of combining the mission of the magazine with that of Police1.com and the Calibre Press Street Survival® Seminar, The Police Marksman will become Street Survival®, beginning with the magazine’s first 2008 issue.

Street Survival® will continue to focus on delivering high quality, training-oriented articles and special segments addressing cutting-edge topics, officer survival, tactics, and firearms training. The magazine will complement the Street Survival® Seminar and the wide range of officer safety-related information available on Police1.com, remaining true to the heritage and mission of The Police Marksman: keeping officers better trained, more informed and safer on the streets.

Some things to note as a Police Marksman subscriber:

- All current subscribers will automatically become Street Survival® subscribers and will receive an additional year added to their subscriptions free of charge.
- Street Survival® will be sent to you quarterly, rather than bi-monthly
- Police1 will be launching an electronic version of The Police Marksman focused exclusively on firearms, firearms accessories and firearms training that will be sent monthly. As a subscriber, you are eligible to receive the electronic version at no cost. To ensure that you will receive the electronic version, please visit the following web page and enter your registration information: www.police1.com/policemarksman

Chuck Remsberg to become Senior Editor of Street Survival®

I am honored to also announce that Chuck Remsberg will be taking the reins as Senior Editor of Street Survival. For 20 years, Chuck served as the co-founder and president of Calibre Press, Inc., serving agencies and individual officers in more than 50 countries as the leading independent producer of training materials for law enforcement personnel.

He has written three best-selling textbooks on officer survival that are widely used in college criminal justice courses and law enforcement training academies; two of them have been cited before the U.S. Supreme Court as representing the standard by which modern, responsible police training should be judged. He co-founded the renowned Street Survival® Seminar, helped produce half a dozen award-winning instructional videos, co-founded the first electronic newsletter for law enforcement, and currently serves as senior correspondent and consultant to Police1.com, the leading Web site for law officers.

Chuck will be filling the spot occupied with distinction for the past 30 years by Connie Bond, who is stepping down from her role. During her tenure as Editor, Connie has been the heart and soul of The Police Marksman, devoting herself to advancing the cause of officer safety and single-handedly working to keep officers better prepared and informed. We sincerely appreciate her contributions to the mission of the magazine, and we wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors.

Focus on Officer Survival

The editorial content of Street Survival® will be customized to meet the specific needs of today’s law enforcement officers and will share the well-established mission of Calibre Press and PoliceOne:

We will present practical, cutting-edge tactical information that will help keep you alive and uninjured physically, emotionally, and legally, regardless of what comes your way, and we will reinforce the 5%er mind-set of excellence and professionalism, wherever it is that you confront today’s law enforcement challenges.

We are very excited about the evolution of this publication, and we firmly believe it will help you stay better informed, be safer on the streets and better protect your community.

Be safe out there.
