NORFOLK, Virgina — A police recruit who was hospitalized after colliding with another recruit at the training center Thursday was learning self-defense tactics at the time, a police spokesman said Monday.
The recruit remained in critical condition at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Police refused to release the recruit ‘s name. Both recruits were wearing protective gear at the time of the incident, said Officer Chris Amos, a police department spokesman.
Because the recruit is still in critical condition, police aren’t sure whether any medical factors contributed to his injuries, Amos said.
