CINCINNATUS, N.Y. — A state trooper was injured when he lost control of his patrol car and crashed in Cortland County Saturday night.

Trooper Steven Bilodeau was driving in “emergency mode” on his way to the scene of a reported disturbance. He lost control at a curve on wet Route 41 in Cincinnatus, hit a guide wire and rolled twice down an embankment at about 10:25 p.m., state police said.

A passing county sheriff’s deputy discovered the wreck a short while later.

Bilodeau, a 28-year veteran, was flown by helicopter to University Hospital in Syracuse, where he was treated for head, neck and chest injuries that state police said were not life threatening.

The investigation of the accident is continuing.
