Dillon, S.C.- Two Dillon police officers have been fired as state agents investigate whether they used excessive force in an arrest last weekend.
Officers Darren Miles and Donnie “Bubba” Grimsley are accused of kicking and beating a suspect with a flashlight last Sunday after he led police on a short chase at an apartment complex. The incident was captured on at least one patrol car’s video camera.
Police say James Anthony Rhodes, 26, tried to run after stopping his car, then punched an officer in the mouth. Rhodes has been charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
Dillon Police Chief Joe Rogers asked the State Law Enforcement Division to investigate the officers.
