(BOSTON) - An up-to-date website can extend the long arm of the law.
A man who allegedly faked suicide in 1984 to avoid prosecution on charges of kidnapping and rape in Massachusetts was arrested Thursday in Texas. Investigators say that Charles Carr, 43, had been living in Fort Worth under the name Robert Carr and working as a landscaper.
Lt. Kevin Horton said that information about Carr had been posted on the Most Wanted List section of the Massachusetts State Police web site for about three weeks when someone called in the tip that allowed investigators to trace Carr.
Carr vanished after allegedly renting a car in his own name and pushing it off a bridge in Portland, Maine, with a suicide note in the vehicle. He was on parole after serving a prison term for sexually assaulting a teenager in New Hampshire when he was charged with a similar crime in Massachusetts.
