Run to Remember Los Angeles

Every step by every runner was one of gratitude. A tribute to first responders who have made the ultimate sacrifice. On April 8th, 2018, runners both swift and steady participated in the Run to Remember Los Angeles Half Marathon & 10K. For many participants the race was deeply personal, as they ran in the memory of a family member or friend that has died in the line of duty.

The Run to Remember route led through the heart of LA and Hollywood and along the streets of Paramount Pictures Studios. On the course, runners were cheered on by many first responders and public safety members who showed their appreciation for the support. The Run to Remember event raises funds which are directed to partner charities that aid community-based initiatives like police mentorships, education and scholarships for youth, equipment for local police and fire departments, at-risk-youth programs, and veteran support.

Safariland had some of our own family there running, including Safariland SAVE #997, Officer Andrew Taylor, who was shot in 2007 while he was on duty in Los Angeles and was protected by his Safariland vest. Officer Taylor said he was proud to run for such an amazing cause and in memory of the 134 officers who paid the ultimate sacrifice last year. Safariland is proud to be a Run to Remember event sponsor and to stand behind the men and women who serve their communities and ensure the safety of citizens every single day.

“Running your heart out, you realize you don’t have it so bad,” said Commander Jeffrey Bart, Los Angeles Police Department. “All these people died for a much bigger thing, and they gave their lives for something that is absolutely sacred.”
