FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. â A fugitive who trolled Florida deputies with a Homer Simpson meme was found hiding at his motherâs home and arrested, the Flagler County Sheriffâs Office said Tuesday.
In August, Steven Victor Young posted an image of the âSimpsonsâ character asking âWaldo, Where are you?!â as a comment on a sheriffâs office Facebook post requesting the publicâs help locating him, the department said.
Young had active warrants from Flagler County for possession of forged bills, possession of forging instruments, and failure to appear for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
After seeing Youngâs taunt, deputies reached out to law enforcement in Washington, D.C., where they believed he was staying.
U.S. Marshals arrested Young, 33, on Tuesday at his motherâs home in D.C. He was to be extradited back to Flagler County to face his charges and held without bond.
The USMS Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force and the USMS Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force worked together in Youngâs arrest.
âTaunting us on Facebook is only going to put you more in the spotlight than you already were,â Sheriff Rick Staly said. âWe didnât find Waldo, but we did find Steven Young and soon he can be found at the Green Roof Inn where he will face the charges against him.â
