PHILADELPHIA — Brian Mussaw apparently couldn’t wait to get plowed on St. Patrick’s Day. So he started a day early, authorities say.

The New York man stole a truck equipped with a snowplow at Philadelphia International Airport Wednesday morning and, while allegedly drunk, drove it onto Interstate 95, where he smacked six cars before he stopped to fight a state trooper, according to State Police.

Mussaw, 28, was outside the baggage-claim area at Terminal B about 7:15 a.m. when he slipped through the passenger’s door into a Ford F-350 with an attached plow, police said. An airport employee who was operating the truck had left it running and stepped out to check on a terminal door.

Leaving the stunned employee behind, Mussaw headed to I-95 North, where, while driving at high speeds with the snowplow down, he sideswiped or rear-ended six cars, according to police. One of the cars hit a seventh vehicle, causing it to flip over the guardrail, police said.

A state trooper was able to bring the truck to a halt, but Mussaw got out of the truck and charged at the trooper, resisting commands, police said. He was restrained when a second trooper arrived.

Mussaw was charged with numerous offenses, including theft of a motor vehicle, driving under the influence of intoxicants and aggravated assault, police said.

Amazingly, none of the drivers or passengers in the cars he hit was injured, police said.

They said that Mussaw was on a layover at the airport when he stole the truck.
