LAS VEGAS — Police released body camera footage of a Nov. 14 officer-involved shooting that occurred after the suspect tried to run down the officer.
News3 Las Vegas reported that police tried to pull over Daniel Prichard, 18, for driving an unregistered vehicle, but he fled.
Officers did not pursue Prichard, but discovered his vehicle at a different location.
“The vehicle pulled into one of those cul de sacs and blacked out,” Capt. Shawn Anderson said. “Officers pulled into the cul de sac, turned on their emergency equipment, and attempted to contact the occupant.”
The body camera footage shows Prichard speeding at an officer who was approaching his vehicle.
“The vehicle drove at a high rate of speed out of the cul de sac at the driver of the police car. He discharged his weapon at the vehicle striking it several times,” Anderson told the news station.
According to News3, Prichard was not hit, but was caught and arrested.
