The Nov. 22 incident started when Moore police responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex, according to the report. Officers found two gunshot victims, one man wounded and a woman who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Around 7:30 a.m., officers responded to a second scene at another Moore apartment complex, where a man was found unresponsive in a parking lot after suffering a medical episode. He later died at a hospital. Investigators determined that his vehicle had been stolen and was subsequently entered into the National Crime Information Center database.
That vehicle was later recovered at the scene of a carjacking in Oklahoma City. According to police, the suspect abandoned the first stolen vehicle and carjacked another driver.
At 12:24 p.m., Oklahoma City police responded to another shooting, where the same suspect fatally shot a third victim, according to the report.
An automated license plate reader later identified the vehicle the suspect was driving. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect fled, leading police on a pursuit.
Video released by police shows the suspect driving through grass and eventually heading the wrong way on an interstate highway. He later abandoned the vehicle and ran along the interstate, armed with a gun, pointing it at passing drivers in an apparent attempt to carjack another vehicle.
“He’s trying to carjack people, guys,” an officer said over the radio during the pursuit.
The suspect was struck by one vehicle, thrown to the ground, got up and was clipped by another vehicle. Despite being hit twice, he remained armed. Officers then opened fire, striking him.
“Shots fired! He’s down,” an officer is heard saying on dashcam video.
The suspect was transported to a hospital, where he died, according to the report.
The suspect had a known history of violent criminal behavior, according to police.
