SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — Two suspects charged with dealing methamphetamines were arrested Monday morning in a multi-state chase.

The chase started in Southaven, Miss. and ended at I-40 and Covington Pike, leading to the arrest of Daniel Cox, 44, and Melissa Beckham, 39 for possession of methamphetamine with intent to manufacture, deliver or sell.

Southaven police began pursuing the suspects about 10:50 a.m., after DeSoto County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to pull over a gray pickup for an improper turn signal.

The suspects ignored police and instead fled northbound on Interstate 55, traveling up to 80 miles per hour. Southaven police put stop strips on the interstate at State Line Road.

The truck hit the strips, puncturing two tires, but continued moving toward the Tennessee state line.

At about 11:05 a.m. Memphis police joined the chase, eventually stopping the truck at I-40 and Covington Pike.

Cox and Beckham were arrested at the scene.

Cox is also charged with felony evading arrest and driving on a revoked license. He had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

The Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force and the Memphis Fire Department checked the truck for hazardous material and determined it to be safe.
