LANSING, Mich. — Police officers and firefighters rescued 10 international students after a massive fire engulfed a Michigan rental home on Monday morning.
WILX reports that police were the first to arrive at the scene around 1:22 a.m. and saw five students outside while the rest were trapped inside the burning home. The students, who were visiting from China to attend a medical conference at Michigan State University, made it out safely after police were able to get them all outside.
A firefighter suffered from a broken nose after a hose hit him in the face, but he is expected to recover.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
The students were preparing to fly back home on Monday and Tuesday and were staying at an Airbnb rental home. None of their personal items were damaged since they were packed up at the time of the fire.
