MEMPHIS — A Memphis police officer was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into a rap video in which the officer allegedly appears alongside suspected members of a local gang.
Officer Paris Glass was relieved of duty pending the outcome of an administrative hearing, a Memphis police spokeswoman confirmed Monday.
An internal investigation is under way to determine whether the officer participated in the video and if she is in violation of any department policies.
Memphis police would not confirm the contents of the video, which has since been removed from YouTube.
According to published excerpts of the video, Glass can be seen dancing in a music video for a song by local rapper P. London called “What’s Up, (expletive)?” Glass and several of the other women refer to themselves as "(expletives) from North Memphis.”
No hearing date has been set for Glass, who has been with the Memphis Police Department since 2007.
