DALLAS — Amber Guyger, the Dallas officer who shot a man in his apartment Sept. 9, has been fired, the Dallas Police Department announced on Twitter Monday.
“An Internal Affairs investigation concluded that … Officer Guyger engaged in adverse conduct when she was arrested for manslaughter,” the release read.
Guyger had just ended a 15-hour shift and was still in full uniform when she arrived at her apartment complex. She mistakenly attempted to enter the apartment of Botham Jean. Upon encountering him in the apartment, Guyger fatally shot Jean.
Guyger, 30, was arrested on a manslaughter charge and booked into the Kaufman County Jail. The Texas Rangers are investigating the case at the request of Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall.
