WARREN, Mich. — The Warren police department’s crackdown of an Internet prostitution ring led to five arrests on charges ranging from accosting and soliciting to possession of crack cocaine and maintaining a drug house, authorities say.

Warren police arrested five people on Tuesday after its special investigations division and special operations unit received information on a Craig’s list Web site that advertised a dating service/prostitution, Police Commission William Dwyer said.

An undercover office made contact with two of the suspects to set up a meeting place at the Red Roof Inn on Dequindre south of 11 Mile, he said. The undercover officer was given a price for various sexual acts.

The arrests of those women led officers to additional information about the location of the prostitution operation -- the Motor City Trailer Park, Dwyer said. A search warrant was obtained and officers arrested three other suspects -- two women and one man -- for various prostitution and drug charges.

“We had information on this particular Internet prostitution ring that also related to drug information,” he said. “It was a pretty interesting investigation.”

The five suspects will be arraigned today at the 37th District Court in Warren, Dwyer said.

Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity by contacting the police department’s drug tip hotline at (586) 574-4887. Information received is confidential and all callers remain anonymous.
