BEND, Ore. — The Bend (Ore.) Police Department has released surveillance footage related to the fatal shooting that happened on August 28 at the Forum Shopping Center Safeway.

Police said the videos and a more detailed report were released after the department received several public records requests for the now-closed case, KGW.com reported. The investigation, according to police, revealed that the gunman was the only one involved in the fatal shooting. The videos feature views from a number of security cameras. They show the gunman’s path to the store as well as what happened once he was inside. The video has been edited to obscure the faces of those involved.

In the video, you see the moment a store employee, later identified as 66-year-old Donald Ray Surrett Jr., a U.S. Army veteran, crouching behind a produce display as the gunman approached. Surrett jumps out and attacks the gunman with a produce knife. Surrett was shot and killed while trying to disarm the gunman.

Seconds later, two Bend officers enter the store as the gunman moves to the back corner of the store, where he dies by suicide.
