CRYSTAL CITY, Mo.- A 26-year-old suburban St. Louis police officer was found shot to death early Tuesday inside a home she apparently shared with the suspect in the shooting.
Amanda Cates was a four-year veteran of the Normandy Police Department. A 37-year-old man was taken into custody. His name was not released.
Cates was not on duty at the time of the shooting.
Police in Crystal City were called to the home around 12:30 a.m. and found Cates’ body inside. Authorities have not commented about what might have prompted the shooting.
