Colo. PD mourns death of K-9

The K-9 was put down after the department learned his illness was untreatable

AURORA, Colo. — A Colorado police department is mourning the loss of their K-9.

According to The Denver Channel, Draco the K-9 was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness on Saturday afternoon.

Veterinary staff tried to help Draco as much as possible, but the illness was untreatable and the K-9 was put down in the early evening.

Police did not give detail on Draco’s illness.

The department decided to donate the K-9’s brain for research to learn more about the illness and how to possibly prevent it in other dogs.
