LAS VEGAS — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Foundation and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department K-9 Section recently hosted the 31st Annual LVMPD K-9 Trials on March 19, 2023, at South Point Arena in Las Vegas.

Teams from all over the country joined the LVMPD K-9 Section in competitions for narcotics, bombs, area search, building search, obedience, agility and handler protection. German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds, Belgian Malinois’, Labradors and English Springer Spaniels competed in the seven different categories.

In this video, K-9 Officer Quincy Mercado from the Menifee Police Department in California discusses the joys of being a police K-9 handler and the value of participating in K-9 competitions.
