ARLINGTON, Texas — A police officer offered a pushups challenge to a teenager who was caught smoking pot.
An unnamed teenager was caught smoking weed in a movie theater parking lot by Officer Eric Ball Monday night, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.
Ball was working off-duty at the theater when someone alerted him of the incident. Ball approached the teen and smelled pot, according to WFAA.
Lt. Christopher Cook told the Star-Telegram that the teenager was respectful and apologized for his mistake, which led to Officer Ball offering a different punishment: 200 pushups.
“He said, ‘You give me 200 pushups, I won’t put you in jail,’ ” Cook said. “He could have very well arrested this teen, but instead he tried to do something better.”
The teen was released to his mother inside the theater who thanked the officer and said her son should’ve done 1,000 pushups, KDFW reported.
