Duty Death: Paul Clark - [St. Francois County]

ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, Mo. — A deputy died July 4 from complications of injuries sustained on duty in 2015.
According to ODMP, 55-year-old Deputy Sheriff Paul Clark was intentionally hit by a stolen vehicle in October 2015 while conducting a traffic stop.
After the deputy asked one of the vehicle’s occupants to walk back with him to his patrol car, the suspect ran to a parked truck near the scene and struck the deputy as he fled in the vehicle.
The deputy was thrown into a ditch and suffered a broken back. The suspect was later caught after a pursuit.
Deputy Clark was an 18-year veteran officer. He is survived by his wife, two children, and grandchildren.
