GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A 25-year veteran of the Goldsboro Police Department died Thursday.
Police Chief Mike West wrote on Facebook that Major Jay Memmelaar passed away unexpectedly.
“It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that the Goldsboro Police Department and the City of Goldsboro has lost a great officer and a dear friend,” West wrote. “We ask that you keep the Memmelaar family in your thoughts and prayers.”
