CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Park Ranger James “Jimmy” Marvin Wallen Jr. succumbed to injuries sustained in a 1989 traffic collision, The Chattanoogan reported.

Wallen, 54, was a 26-year traumatic brain injury survivor. He worked as an officer until the accident ended his career.

The traffic collision occurred when Wallen and his partner were struck by another vehicle while they pulled out onto the highway in their patrol car.

Emergency personnel attempted to resuscitate Wallen at the scene. Wallen remained in nurse care until he passed away from complications on Oct. 25 that stemmed from the original injury.

Wallen is survived by his wife, mother, sister and two brothers.
