WAUKESHA, Wisc. — A sheriff’s deputy Thursday was suspended without pay for 20 days for carrying on a sexual relationship while on duty with another law enforcement officer.
Waukesha County Deputy Christy M. Bahr appeared before the Sheriff’s Grievance Committee and did not contest the punishment.
“She accepts and agrees to the 20-day suspension,” said John Dillon, a Wisconsin Professional Police Association representative for Bahr. “She made a mistake.”
Bahr quickly left the meeting room when the hearing ended.
Inspector Steve Marks said the department and Bahr had agreed to the length of her suspension, which began immediately.
“Based on the charges, the punishment is appropriate,” said E. John Raasch, the committee chairman.
Bahr, 32, was accused of having a sexual relationship with then-Chenequa police Officer Jeremy R. Sallman, 31. Bahr was assigned to patrol the Chenequa area, Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Pederson said.
Bahr joined the department in January 2002.
Sallman resigned from the Chenequa department this month after he was ticketed on accusations that he bit or sucked on the neck of a waitress at Mo’s Irish Pub in Wauwatosa.
The relationship spanned a four-month period and ended at least eight months ago, Marks said prior to the committee hearing.
