2 Fla. cops injured after cruisers collide

An off-duty officer attempted to make a left turn into a shopping plaza when the two marked cars collided

MIAMI, Fla. A Miami-Dade Police police officer driving a marked patrol car collided with a Biscayne Park police officer, also in a marked car, Thursday night in Southwest Miami-Dade, according to police.

The accident happened at about 7:30 p.m. at Southwest 152 Street and Southwest 137 Avenue.

According to Miami-Dade police, the Miami-Dade police officer was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Southwest 152nd Avenue with his lights and sirens on. Meanwhile, an off-duty Biscayne Park officer was traveling westbound in the westbound lanes and attempted to make a left turn into a shopping plaza when the cars collided, police said.

The Biscayne Park car crashed into three stopped cars and the Miami-Dade car ended up crashing into an unoccupied car in the shopping plaza parking lot.

The Miami-Dade officer was taken to Baptist Hospital West and the Biscayne Park officer was taken to Kendall Regional Trauma.

No other injuries were reported.
