ORLANDO, Fla. — Florida researchers want to know what makes a streetscape safe for all users, including pedestrians and bicyclists, and they’re looking for input from police officers.

The new study from the Florida Department of Transportation and the University of Central Florida wants perspectives from cops, engineers and urban planners on what makes a street more dangerous.

The 10- to 30-minute private survey will ask respondents to compare various streetscapes in terms of how each one impacts driver attention, caution and speed management. There will also be an opportunity to point out specific features that impact driver behavior, according to researchers.

“If you’ve ever thought, ‘I wish they had done that differently,’ now is the time to speak up,” researchers said.
