SIOUX CITY, Iowa — A woman seen on video arrested by Sioux City police was found guilty of assault, it was announced Wednesday.
An undercover officer arrested Dacosta Daniels, 34, in August after questioning her about her fiance, who was the subject of a police investigation, according to KCAU TV. The situation escalated when Dacosta resisted arrest, and she is seen grabbing the officer’s shirt while the officer tries to stop her.
An internal investigation found the officer to be within policy.
“It doesn’t look good,” Police Chief Doug Young said after the video’s initial releas. “But was the officer within policy? yes. Was the officer allowed by state law to use the force necessary to make the arrest? Yes. And that’s what we judge it on. I don’t judge it on whether it looks good or looks bad.”
