FOREST CITY, N.C. — A Forest City police officer is in critical condition after he was shot Monday while responding to a call about an armed man.
According to WYFF, Officer Jamie Hill underwent surgery and was in critical but stable condition on Tuesday. Hill was shot in the abdomen between his vest and other protective gear, police told reporters.
Two other officers were with Hill at the time of the shooting, but were not injured, according to the report.
The suspect, 20-year-old Akeil Franklin, is charged with three counts of attempted murder and felony assault on a police officer with a weapon.
