GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A Guilford County sheriff’s deputy was shot Monday night, according to The High Point Enterprise’s news-gathering partner WXII-12 News.
Authorities with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call around 6 p.m. at 2800 Brookledge Court in Browns Summit and found a deputy suffering from gunshot wounds in the shoulder and thigh.
A woman in the home was also wounded in the foot during an exchange of gunfire.
According to WXII, the deputy was responding to a domestic incident at the home when a person in the residence opened fire. The deputy was transported to Moses Cone Hospital and is undergoing surgery for non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department were still in a standoff with the suspected gunman as of 11:20 p.m.
This was the 13th call to the residence since 2010, according to authorities.
The name of the deputy has not been released.
