OGDEN, Utah — Police released footage Friday of a fatal Feb. 21 shooting of a felon who allegedly aimed a weapon at pursuing officers.
According to Salt Lake Tribune, Bartolo Justice Sambrano, 25, and another man, 20, were prowling cars in a parking garage and fled from authorities when an officer approached them for questioning.
Sambrano can be seen running down a hallway and turning to point a handgun at police. The Standard-Examiner reported that one officer fired nine times, killing Sambrano.
Police Chief Randy Watt told the Salt Lake Tribune that Sambrano has been on the run since Dec. 9 when he escaped from a work release program. Officials said Sambrano was sought in a home invasion where shots were fired as well.
The other suspect was detained for questioning and released, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.
