AMBRIDGE, Pa. — An officer is expected to make a full recovery after being shot in the chest and saved by a ballistic vest, Beaver Countian reported.
Patrolman Alan Loskoch was on patrol Wednesday morning when he noticed a man attempting to break into vehicles. The man shot the officer through the passenger side window of Loskoch’s patrol vehicle and ran away. Loskoch was found unconscious near his cruiser by a responding officer.
Loskoch regained consciousness and was able to walk before being transported to the hospital. The department told the publication Loskoch is expected to make a full recovery.
The initial investigation discovered Loskoch returned fire at the suspect, but is unclear whether the suspect was wounded.
Police are searching for the suspect who is considered armed and extremely dangerous. Crime Stoppers is offering a “significant” reward for information leading to the suspect’s arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 742-773-7400.
