WICHITA FALLS, Texas — A woman was found stabbed, and a man was shot by a police officer at a Wichita Falls apartment complex Sunday afternoon.
According to a Police Department news release, first responders and an ambulance crew were called to an apartment in a complex about 3 p.m. They heard what they thought was a disturbance inside the apartment and requested police to respond.
An officer who arrived was confronted by a man with a weapon, the release said. The suspect lungedat the officer, and the policemanfiredhis dutyweapon, striking the suspect in the torso, according to the police release.
At the apartment, officers found a woman who had “multiple stab wounds.”
The man and woman were taken to a hospital by ambulance. Their conditions Sunday evening were described in the police release as stable.
Police did not release their names.
The officer who shot the man was not injured, the news release said.
Officers cordoned off a portion of the apartment complex parking lot as investigators began their work.
Police confirmed a child was at the scene but was unharmed. Child Protective Services took custody of the child.
