TRINIDAD, Colo. —Body camera footage of a fatal officer-involved shooting has been released following a district attorney’s ruling that the use of force was justified.
The Gazette reports Officer Ron Arlint responded to a report of trespassing at a trailer park in April when the deadly confrontation occurred.
20-year-old Todd Jamal Dye was discovered inside a trailer. Officer Arlint ordered him to the ground.
Although Dye initially obeyed Arlint’s orders, he quickly pulled a firearm and pointed it at Arlint as the officer was radioing in for backup. Arlint then opened fire on Dye, killing him.
A district attorney ruled the shooting justified late last month. Dye was reportedly a serial offender and had active warrants out in multiple states.
