BOONE, Iowa — An Iowa police department recently released video of police fatally shooting a knife-wielding man who charged at officers.
The Des Moines Register reports that Boone officers responded to a domestic violence call Saturday from a woman who said her boyfriend, 48-year-old Wayne Anderson, was threatening her and another person with a knife. Upon arrival, police said they could hear screaming from inside the home.
When officers tried to enter the home, Anderson charged at them with a knife. Police said officers told Anderson to drop the knife multiple times before fatally shooting him.
The six officers involved have been placed on administrative leave, per department policy. Chief John Wiebold added that those six officers make up a third of the department.
The shooting continues to be investigated.
