FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Officers received a free lunch Thursday from some grateful citizens, according to the Fayetteville Police Department’s Facebook.

Officers from the Fayetteville department were taking a lunch break from a training session with a group of officers from around the nation including Florida, Texas and Washington D.C. When the bill arrived for their meals, they were surprised it had already been paid.

The officers were instead presented with a note from two anonymous citizens thanking them for their hard work. They included the hashtag “Blue Lives Matter” in the hand-written note.

The department posted the note to their Facebook page to express how proud they are of the relationships they have with their citizens.

“This kind gesture not only affected the FPD officers but the other officers who were with us as well, and it left a wonderful impression on us all,” the department wrote.

The post has over 700 likes.
