ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. — New Jersey police were led on a high-speed pursuit by a carjacker with a stolen police cruiser, WABC reported.

The suspect, 22-year-old Sereymanta Kong, stole the cruiser after a botched carjacking.

Before the pursuit, Kong attempted to steal an SUV only to discover there were two children inside. The children successfully escaped as Kong led officers down a dead-end. Kong managed to escape in a marked car, even though officers had him surrounded.

“Here’s a guy that puts on a police hat, sticks his tongue out at pursuing officers, in my 25 years I’ve never heard of such an act, so that will tell you what type of state of mind he had,” said Chief Thomas Rowe, of the Leonia Police Department, to WABC.

The video shows the high-speed pursuit that ensued with such erratic driving, several cruisers crashed into each other.

“If this person continued to go at the speed he was going at and what he was doing, his reckless conduct, he’s completely depraved, that he would without question have no problem smashing into civilian vehicles,” Rowe said to the publication.

Officers were able to stop Kong and arrest him as he attempted to bite officers.

Kong was charged with three counts each of assault on police, resisting arrest and eluding with serious injury, as well as one count of assault on a corrections officer and various other charges including disarming a police officer, carjacking and obstruction. He is held in jail with a $1,275,000 bail.
