RIVERSIDE, Ohio — Police are searching for a suspect who punched an officer multiple times during an arrest attempt captured on video.
According to body and dash camera video captured Sept. 9 and later aired by WHIO, an officer responding to a report that a man stole a 12-pack of beer from a convenience store was repeatedly punched in the head while attempting to detain a suspect.
In the footage, which WHIO posted on Facebook as a call to the public for help identifying the suspect, an officer approaches a man walking with an open case of beer tucked under his arm.
“Where’d you get the beer?” the officer asks twice before asking the man to put his hands behind his back to be detained. The man struggles with the officer, who uses his Taser twice. The man then stands up, over the officer, and punches him multiple times in the head before taking off down the road. The video ends as the officer radios for backup.
Police want the public’s help in identifying the suspect. Those with information can call (937) 233-2080.
