ELIZABETH, N.J. — A New York Port Authority cop and a colleague were injured Thursday after one of the officers mistakenly fired his service weapon while cleaning it.
According to NJ Advance Media, the officers were inside a Port Authority facility when the gun was fired, striking the officer in the hand and his coworker in the thigh.
Both cops were transported to a hospital, where they were treated and released, the Cliffview Pilot reported.
