CANAL FULTON, Ohio — A disabled man in Ohio who waited 30 years to go sledding for the first time finally got to do it with the help of several first responders.

WHDH reports that Canal Fulton officers and firefighters worked with Echoing Connections, an organization that helps people with disabilities, to make Patrick O’Brien’s wish come true. O’Brien said growing up, he watched his brothers and friends go sledding, something he never got to experience until now.

“It feels like I have wings,” he said.

Local officials said the community helped raise the $800 needed for the adaptable sled within hours. The first responders also took other disabled residents sledding.

Officers and firefighters said they plan on making this an annual event.
