A five-hour stand-off in Montrose ended just after 6 a.m. this morning when a man surrendered to Houston police officers.
SWAT members were called around 1 a.m. to a three-story building at the corner of Montrose Avenue and Kipling, where authorities say a man suspected in the Sunday night shooting of woman was hiding.
Police closed off the area and diverted traffic as they tried to communicate with the suspect and as they searched both the first and second floors of the building, where Hot Tops Hair Salon is located.
Authorities found weapons and a substantial amount of marijuana on the second floor. The stand-off ended just after 6 a.m. when the suspect, who was on the top floor of the building, turned himself in.
The man, whose name was not yet available, faces possible aggravated assault, drug possession and firearm charges, according to HPD Capt. Dwayne Ready.
Police say the shooting victim was apparently shot in the face or jaw and was expected to recover.
