LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies executed five different PIT maneuvers in an effort to end a two-hour-long vehicle pursuit Tuesday night.
The fifth PIT maneuver, according to FOXLA.com, was successful at stopping the suspect, who was driving a stolen vehicle. The suspect led deputies through east Los Angeles and then into downtown L.A. After the fifth PIT attempt, the suspect tried to escape in the vehicle one last time, pushing one deputy between two cars. It’s unclear if the deputy was injured.
During the pursuit, the driver flew through a fence, ran red lights, drove on the wrong side of the road and backed into a deputy’s cruiser – all while the vehicle sustained major damage. The pursuit reached speeds of up to 92 mph, police said.
The driver was ultimately taken into custody. Details regarding charges were not immediately released.
