FORT WORTH, Texas — A Fort Worth police officer was hospitalized after jumping 40 to 50 feet off a bridge to avoid being hit by a vehicle, according to police.
Early Saturday morning, the officer was dispatched on a call to assist a motorist at the split between westbound Loop 820 and Interstate 35, according to police. While the officer was setting up flares, a vehicle drove in the officer’s direction and he feared he would be hit.
He jumped over the retaining wall to avoid being hit, falling the 40 to 50 feet to the ground.
The officer was taken to a hospital, where he remained in stable condition Monday. The officer’s name has not been released.
