SALINAS, Calif. — Two people were killed and five others wounded on Monday when a gunman opened fire into a crowd outside a California taco restaurant in a suspected gang-related shooting, police said.
The attack in Salinas occurred around 1:30 a.m. after an altercation inside the restaurant spilled outside, police said. No arrests have been made.
Arriving officers found a 22-year-old man dead from gunshot wounds. A 28-year-old man who also was shot several times was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Another victim, a 25-year-old man, was critically wounded, police said. The other victims, including a 53-year-old woman, were expected to survive.
Police did not identify the victims or the suspected gunman.
Salinas, a farming town in Central California, has struggled with gang violence. Police are also investigating a suspected gang-related shooting on Sunday that left a 25-year-old man critically wounded.
