Sammamish, Wash. -- A King County Sheriff’s deputy has been injured after he was dragged by a suspect’s car while attempting to make an arrest.
The deputy pulled over a stolen Dodge Durango near 251st Pl SE and SE 21st Pl in the Sammamish area about 1:30 a.m. The deputy approached the SUV when its driver hit the accelerator and the vehicle snagged the officer’s arm, dragging the officer.
The suspect’s vehicle stopped after about 20 feet when it hit a mound of dirt, leaving the officer was pinned against a piece of construction equipment.
Sergeant John Duncan said the driver apparently was trying to get away because the car was stolen. The officer had made a traffic stop on a street in a new development where houses are still under construction.
The officer was hospitalized with a leg injury and a suspect was treated for a cut to the head.
