WENATCHEE, Wash. (AP) -- Chelan County Sheriff Mike Harum has hired a former FBI agent as his chief criminal deputy, replacing an officer who resigned after being arrested for drunken driving.
Clyde Foreman, a 20-year FBI supervising agent from the San Francisco area, was hired Tuesday morning, Harum said.
He will replace former Chief Criminal Deputy Mark Mann, who resigned shortly after being arrested in late December for investigation of driving under the influence and three counts of hit-and-run driving.
Foreman, 54, will take over the post on March 22.
He will oversee field and investigations operations and will be the third-ranking person in charge at the department.
Foreman began his career with the Bellingham Police Department, where he served for two years. He then joined the Costa Mesa Police Department in California.
After 10 years there, he went to work at the FBI, eventually becoming a supervising agent, Harum said.
Foreman’s son, Chris Foreman, has been a Chelan County sheriff’s deputy since late 2002.
