CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) -- Carlsbad police officer Kym Redman remains in critical condition at a Texas hospital, but her husband said her condition has improved over the past week.
Redman and fellow officer Eric Jameson were shot after Thomas Cook, 36, rammed his car into Jameson’s police cruiser during a chase Nov. 20. Authorities said Cook reportedly began firing his gun and was shot in return. Cook died at Carlsbad Medical Center.
Jameson returned home last week, but Lance Redman said his wife has yet to regain consciousness. She was listed in critical condition at University Medical Center in Lubbock late Monday.
“They took her off the ventilator Friday. She’s kind of semi-conscious, I guess,” her husband said. “We’re getting there, slowly but surely.”
